“Sports should be banned in Pakistan” says Miandad in Shaista Wahidi’s Utho Jaago Pakistan

As if Miandad’s hypocritical and besuri attempt at naat-khwani was not annoying enough, he was given yet another opportunity to add to the religiosity of this country, which it hardly needs, by Shaista Wahidi on her morning show Utho Jaago Pakistan. Shaista Wahidi, as usual was stupid and annoying; the other host Bilal Qutb with his tasbeeh and periodic tarka of religion to everything didn’t really sit well.

The highlights of the show (i) Javed Miandad says Sports should be banned in Pakistan because Sports and Education can not go together and (ii) the Sharjah hero weeps like a kid wiping his tears off his cheeks as Shaista Wahidi shows a video clip regarding Miandad’s sponsored madrassah in Karachi hosting 600 kids.

The program reveals (in Part 4) that Javed Miandad sponsored a madressah in Karachi spending 24 lac which now hosts 600 kids. As the video clip concludes, Shaista Wahidi turns to Miandad for his views on this; he weeps like a kid, wiping the tears off his cheeks. I don’t want to be judgemental or be doubtful of his intentions, but I could not help laughing here – Sorry ;-)

Since this was a Shaista Wahidi’s show, its by default an additional responsibility of the hosts to add some stupidity to amuse the audience. A couple of gems from both hosts:

In Part 3 at 11:40 Bilal Qutb, somehow manages to link Miandad’s  sixes and the battle of Badr and says, Badr ki jang main farishtoon nay chakkay lagaiy. Sounds like blasphemy?

In Part 6 at 6:55 Shaista Wahidi again proving that she has nothing sensible to say, asks Miandad if some chicks have ever approached him because of his religious beliefs? I mean seriously? I haven’t heard any playboys using religion as a flirting trick – when did this became an IN thing?

Courtesy Shahid Saeed and Samreen Shahbaz, I can add that a quick summary of the program was also reported in Jang News:
