Almost an year back, following the links on the Google search results for ‘Baluchistan Geography’ I happened to visit a blog titled Gedrosia. The content at the blog came as a surprise to me and I dropped an email to the blog-owner. Today, I feel myself in a better position to understand his feelings, being a Baloch, after I have been to Baluchistan a couple of weeks back.
I present you the email conversation, from the archives.

28 May, 1998: Pakistan successfully tested its nuclear weapons at Chaghi hills in Baluchistan. The government promised the necessary follow-up measures for the people of the area to avoid any after-effects but did not fulfill the promise and hundreds, if not thousands, are known to be suffering for the effects of the nukes.

Was having nuclear weapons inevitable for Pakistan ?
Will we ever be able to come out of the myth of the security state and head towards a social welfare state ?

These question tease me all the time …

Iftikhar Chaudhry took oath on PCO in 2002 and now rejected the PCO in 2007?
The PCO which Musharraf presented in 2002 was not declared null and void by the Supreme Court of that time. The PCO of 2007 declared martial law in the country and abrogated the constitution. It was anti-constitutional, anti-state and clearly against the rights and wishes of the people of Pakistan. Furthermore, the PCO of 2002 and the oath of office order were given indemnity by a two-thirds majority in both houses – the 17th constitutional …

Surreal moment indeed for those activists of FASTRising and YPL who were baton charged at this very place back in February, 2008 when they were trying to cross the barriers erected by the empire. A historic moment indeed for all of us to walk on a road where one of the most glorious chapter of peaceful resistance has been written by lawyers and students of Islamabad.

An unforgettable moment for all members of our delegation from FASTRising, YPL, SAC Lahore who met the real CJ of Paklistan, the honorable Iftikhar Chaudhary, …

Axe – A heavy chopping implement with a symmetric working edge that is hafted in a handle, used to usually chop wood. [Dictionary definition]

PPP promised the nation to restore the judges deposed by Musharraf on November 3,2007 within 30 days of the formation of federal Government as per Murree declaration. The nation applauded this documented and signed promise of PPP and anxiously waited for these 30 days. During this time a false propaganda was launched to weaken the lawyer’s movement and to defame the image in the general public which …

Now we can see through the fog – the artificially created duplicitous fog to misguide the people of Pakistan by the two-faced stance of PPP. Ever since the Musharraf’s ruling coalition started losing its credibility and the PPP started to get an increased level of attention in the media, it has either remained neutral or taken a stance which lacks blinding clarity.
It is the same PPP which had been known as a symbol of resistance against oppression, dictatorship and foreign involvement in national politics. Back in 70s, the PPP managed …

24 members of the new cabinet have taken oath. Most of them are political opponents of Musharraf, eager to curtail his powers. Musharraf remained grim-faced throughout the ceremony in Islamabad. Several of these ministers taking oath were jailed by Musharraf in the past and he ousted the PML(N)’s government back in 1999 by a military coup. The prime Minister, Gilani himself spent five years in prison under Musharraf’s rule. No party head attended the swearing-in and the members of PML(N) taking oath sported black arm bands to show their defiance …

April 4th, 1979: A fox-look-alike military dictator hangs the country’s ever popular leader, the first elected Prime Minister, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto which was later labeled as ‘Judicial Murder’.
March 23rd, 2007: Yet another military dictator, the illegal President of Pakistan, Musharraf, recalls Bhutto in his auto-biography ‘In the Line of Fire’ as “hypocrite and the worst ruler Pakistan has ever had” and “a fascist dictator”.
March 25th, 2008: At the Aiwan-e-Sadar (President residency) , the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Prime Minister was not attended by any of the …
